FAQs

Can I bring a dog/s to the course on race day?
Sorry, dogs are not allowed on the course or left in the car. Security will alert staff if a dog is found in a locked car.

What do I wear?
We do not really have a dress code. Would recommend you dress for the weather. If you are in the Members/or dining would recommend you dress smart/informal.

Do I need to print off my tickets and how do I get tickets?
Tickets are available online or via ringing up the Racecourse office. If you wish, you can print off your tickets to exchange for a badge on entry to the course. However, if you have your e-tickets on your phone via email, we can scan them.

Do you do any concessions for seniors?
Unfortunately not at the moment.
Will there be an outdoor cover?
The grandstand is partly covered over but other than that, the race meeting is an outdoor event. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring an umbrella if it is likely to rain.

What happens if racing is abandoned?
Ludlow benefits from very good drainage due to be being on a gravel soil. So is unlikely to be abandoned . Our biggest danger is frost especially if we have had three or four days of continuous frosts.
If racing is abandoned prior to racing a full refund is available. If after the first race but before the third race 50% refund, but if after the third race, no refund.
Refunds will not be available on the day but need to be claimed within 28 days of the raceday. Racegoers should send their tickets to the Racecourse Office at Ludlow Racecourse.

Where can I buy food and drinks? And what hospitality is there at Ludlow?
The Fairway cafe is open to all offering All Day Breakfast, hot & cold snacks, drinks & alcohol.
The Tattersalls cafe offers hot & cold snacks, drinks & alcohol to those who purchase a Tattersall or Premier Badge.
The Clive Pavilion offers a Roast Carvery, hot & cold snacks, drinks & alcohol to those who have purchased a Premier Badge.
On bigger meetings we will have outside bars & burger vans around the course.

Will I be able to purchase a racecard?
Racecards are available on admission priced at £3. They will also be available to purchase from other areas located on the course. We recommend getting one when you arrive so you know what races are coming up. They have all the information you need about your day out.
Will there be an ATM available?
Cash is available from the Racecourse Office.

Is there a bus service from Ludlow to the Racecourse?
A complimentary shuttle bus will pick you up from the Ludlow train station & then take you back half an hour after the last race.
Please check the website for pick-up time, as times will vary.

When should we arrive?
Gates open 2 hours before the first race. Arriving in good time before racing starts allows time to soak up the atmosphere, explore the course, to enjoy a drink in the bars or perhaps a meal in the restaurant. We recommend you arrive at least an hour before racing.

Can children come racing?
We welcome children and families to Ludlow Racecourse. Children aged 17 and under go free to the races when accompanied by an adult (some exclusions apply for Festival fixtures and Live After Racing events). Children don’t require a ticket.

How accessible is Ludlow racecourse?
We do all we can to ensure our visitors enjoy their day. We provide priority parking close to the entrance that is reserved for Blue Badge holders.
We also have a disabled toilet facility easily accessible next to the grandstand.
With specific concerns in regards to wheelchair facilities, parking and adverse weather, please contact the Ludlow Racecourse office – 01584 856221
What do you offer carers?
Carers will receive free admission to the racecourse when accompanying a paying disabled guest.
Carer tickets can be obtained from the racecourse entrances on the fixture day when proof of disability is provided (e.g. a Blue Badge (with accompanying photo ID), Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or signed letter from GP (with accompanying photo ID).)

Please email mail@ludlowracecourse.co.uk at least 24 hours in advance with your name and details of the fixture you wish to attend to arrange these tickets. Subject to availability.

Can I smoke and where?
Smoking is permitted in the allocated smoking rings across the racecourse. Smoking is not permitted in the grandstands.

Where is the best place to stay overnight?
We would recommend The Clive, Ludlow. It is just half a mile from the racecourse. Here is their website – https://www.theclive.co.uk
