Events & Conferences

Whether it be an event or conference, we have plenty of different options for you to choose from here at the racecourse.

The venue options include:  

The Windsor Marquee – Our newest addition to the racecourse is the marquee. This is a flexible space situated between the weighing room and the Fairway cafe and opposite the grandstand. It seats anything from 300 to 500 people and is available for lunches, any form of corporate hospitality, dinners, dances, charity events or weddings and has its own entrance/bar area and toilets.  Whatever the occasion or event, we can personalise the marquee to suit your requirements.

The Clive Pavilion

The Clive Pavilion is reputed to be the largest function room in Shropshire having a floor area of 7,000 square feet which means it can hold 400 conference style and 350 for a sit-down dinner.  It was built 27 years ago and opened by Viscount Windsor, now the Earl of Plymouth, on 19th November 1992.  Until the building of the Jubilee Stand in 2003, the Clive Pavilion was the only hospitality area at Ludlow Racecourse.  Previously, it hosted the general public, annual members, owners and trainers and directors all under one roof, something inconceivable today!

Over the years we have used it for weddings, conferences, Hunt Balls, Christmas Fairs, car boot sales and we have hosted, amongst others, Theresa May, David Cameron, Jeremy Hunt, HRH The Countess of Wessex, HRH The Prince & Princess of Wales, Steve Bull and Liverpool Football Club. There is also space to land a helicopter here if required but this needs to be booked in advance. The Clive Pavilion has its own huge floodlit car park which can hold at least 200 cars with direct access to the room. Disabled access is good with toilets situated at both ends and ramps everywhere.

It has 2 bars to suit every event, its own massive kitchen which is one of the biggest kitchens in Shropshire with 3 x 6 burner industrial cookers, industrial plate warmers, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and ample amounts of tables and chairs for every occasion. It also has a grass area outside with picnic tables which can be used for hog roasts, barbeques or picnics.

We have an 8 x 8 metre polished wooden dance floor, dimmable lights, and we have the biggest screen in Shropshire. Every aspect of IT equipment can be organized and hired from us.

The Plymouth Stand – The newest of the buildings at Ludlow Racecourse, the Plymouth stand is on two floors, which can be hired separately or together.  There is space for 160 people on the ground floor and 180 on the first floor.  This area is perfect if you want to have a full-day conference (on one floor) with lunch (on the other floor) and just as good for weddings, parties, wakes, theatre rehearsals, or any other private events.  It has its own kitchen, bar, TV screens and all amenities needed for all events.

For longer meetings, over more than one day, prices are negotiable.

Formal sit-down lunches for up to 100 people sitting at round tables of 10 and hot buffets for up to 200 people are also available.  Menus are available on request.


The Jubilee Stand

Opened in 2003 by HRH The Prince of Wales, the Jubilee Stand is a spacious, first-floor, flexible area which can accommodate up to 300 people.  It has its own balcony overlooking the course and fantastic views of Ludlow Golf Club, the Clee Hill and the Shropshire countryside.  It has its own kitchen, bar and toilet facilities as well as options on ‘break-out’ rooms for conferences, and can be divided into a number of small private rooms or one large space.  There are TV screens and electricity points for each space. Formal sit-down lunches for up to 200 people sitting at round tables of 10 and hot buffets for up to 300 people are also available. Menus are available on request.


We are also able to hold wakes at the racecourse in the room options above. Our staff are very sympathetic to your needs. Please enquire directly for more information. This is a popular choice for racing enthusiasts and many people have their ashes scattered around the course.
